HELP! 2016 Macbook Pro won't charge!

I have a new (November 2016) macbook pro - 13" with touchbar. The battery won't charge, though it is connected to power.

It says Battery is not charging.
Power Source: Power Adapter.

Since this morning when I noticed it, the battery is slowly draining and is currently at 22%.

Can anyone help me? After all the money I just spent on this, I'm pretty discouraged that I can't even use the battery after less than 2 months!

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, 4 TBT3), iOS 10.2

Bought a late 2016 MBP 13in i7 on cyber monday via Amazon (Apple was seller). Working great till today, wouldn't charge and wouldn't recognize any of my USB-C charging cables. Kept getting image of battery low - plug in power. Called Apple Support who had me reset the SMC which seemed to fix it. Battery was at 0%, so I wonder if this will happen again it my battery drains. Hoping this is a one time event but reading previous posts making me nervous this may be a hardware problem.

I had the same issue but Apple wouldn't provide a replacement at first. They made me send it in for repair (the logic board among other things were replaced). It happened again(!) on the machine they sent back and that time, they wouldn't provide a replacement and forced me to go through the repair process again. I used the repaired macbook pro for about 2 months before it happened a third time! They gave me trouble about providing a replacement, they said their policy is to repair 3 times before providing a replacement, but some pushing made them agree. I finally have a replacement and hope this doesn't happen again. Also, the first two times I had to deal with customer service, it was a horrid experience.

Here's the update:

Tried the SMC reset and it didn't help. I don't have an Apple store nearby so I had to ship it off to Apple.

Apple said the logic board failed. They waited and waited saying they didn't have replacement logic boards before finally shipping me a new machine...25 days after I first opened a case. All in all, it took them 3 and a half weeks to get me a working device. Pretty frustrating for those of use who reply on our computers every day to earn a living.

Really disappointed with the customer service I experienced throughout the process, but glad to have something that works.

Same problem here. My MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2016 with Touch Bar died exactly 2 months after warranty expired. It last exactly a year and two months. Pretty disappointing considering I saved up $$$ to buy this and was so looking forward to it for a long time. In my case, they are charging me $799 to get it repaired since Genius Bar said it's not a charger or power problem. My guess - some devices from the same lot have a manufacturing / hardware defect. Cannot be consumer's fault after such a short time of use, and not a lot of use at that.

So disappointed.

33 days after warranty expired in my case. Apparently they have a special proprietary tool that they will use to recover your data if you are within warranty. Not sure what to do otherwise, they referred me to some VERY expensive recovery specialists, didn't even mention that they had such a tool available. My data is there, I just can't get power to the drive in order to recover it. I've been a loyal Apple enthusiast since I saved up for me my first Macintosh classic in 1990, but I think their conduct in the post-Jobs era has me questioning my loyalties and this is the last Mac I am likely to purchase.

Had the same problem with my 15" MBP 10 days ago. Got my MBP as soon as they come out. All working fine until one day the machine turned off suddenly(I wasn't noticing it wasn't charging before it died).

It is hard to believe that new machine and new battery will have hardware issue so soon. My guess is that it maybe have something to do with the new USB Type-C controller, or whatever power management logic. For some reason it refuses to suck power from the ports. It maybe a software bug.

I took my machine to Apple Store and after some tests they replaced a new one for me.

This just happened to me this morning. Got my 15" MBP touchbar in mid November last year. It was fine last night. This morning I came to a powered off system saying the battery had no charge. I left it plugged in all day (the battery icon was the only thing showing in the middle of the screen indicating it was plugged in). When I got home I managed to get it to boot (sorta). It said 0% then 100%. If I unplugged, it said 0%, so I plugged it back in. It said 100% but not charging. I'm not sure which reading to trust. I tried rebooting to get it to register right, but it never came back in. It will not boot. I tried the SMC reset. No joy. I also used my wife's charger with no joy. Now I must sadly make a Genius Bar appointment and waste my time with them. Fortunately, I back things up (CrashPlan). Unfortunately it won't be as seamless if they swap for a new system as a time machine backup (been meaning to get that running again).

Sigh. Absolutely not impressed. Especially given how much I am reading of others having this problem. Grrr. Apples QC is sorely disappointing in recent years.

I have the exact same issue happening today and wish i had read this thread sooner. There was a moment where it was still turning on but the battery sign said 0% even though the “lightning sign” as an indicator for charging was on. I checked the battery status in the settings and it said: Battery charging: no (even though it was connected). I tried different outlets as well as switching cables and usb-c ports. No change. Support told me to to an NVRAM because the SMC reset didn’t change anything but after that it wouldn’t boot back up at all. (Mostly frustrated with myself that I kept on following instructions, I should have been happy to have it up to move stuff over. (Mostly it’s all backed up but the work of today is gone).

Oh well the most disappointing thing is I can get a Genius Bar apportionment in 3 (!!!) days! I have to drive 100miles one way and there is no way for them to give me an earlier appt.

I understand that technology sometimes has it’s downfalls but I do not like that it takes 3 days for someone to even look at it.
