Many thanks, this also worked for me.
Prior to iOS 11 the pencil was working fine (with the 3-finger-tap-to-zoom enabled, but not necessarily actually zoomed) but now there is a definite correlation between this feature being turned on and my Apple Pencil skipping. I'll look to file a bug report with some evidence attached :-)

Try going to Settings/general/accessibility/zoom and turning off all zoom settings
To be more specific, my iPad (from about September 2015) just started have this problem when writing with the Pencil. I'm writing, and the marks sometimes become disjoint, like a single character is made of multiple strokes in which I've picked up the Pencil for each.
Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
Also, try re-pairing your Apple Pencil.
All stylii and apps have some issue/s with palm rejection.
Even SketchBook Pro from time to time.
But the Pencil or any stylus skipping is not as pervasive and as regularly occuring as you have been describing.
One of the things you may try is to lay your palm down first on the screen before starting to use the Pencil and make sure not to lift your hand/palm/side of your palm while drawing/writing.
See if this makes any difference.
Yes - that definitely seems to be a work around, but it's not a "fix". Because of poor eyesight I often use the 3-finger zoom to look closer at things on the screen, so having to have zoom turned off affects my workflow on the iPad.
I use zoom settings a lot, so this is still a bug, even though turning zoom off solves the apple pencil problems.
Until Apple fixes the problem, I suggest turning on the accessibility shortcut feature.
1. Go to Settings/general/accessibility/Accessibility Shortcut
2. Check the Zoom feature
Then, when you want to turn zoom on from within other apps or from the home screen, just triple click the home button. Now, the zoom feature stays on. So, if you triple tap the screen, it zooms in and out like before. And, if you go back to settings, you will see that the zoom feature is turned on. Because of this, your apple pencil will begin to have problems again. However, if you want to turn the feature off while using the pencil, you can quickly do so by triple tapping the home button again. So, if you use the pencil a lot, leave the zoom off and triple tap the home button when you need it. On the other hand, if you use the zoom a lot and the pencil only occasionally, leave the zoom feature on, and triple tap home to temporarily shut it off only when you want to use the pencil.
Try tightening the tip and see if that helps.
This hasnt been helping me, any other suggestions?
This hasnt worked. I have two ipad pros and it happens on both with two different pens but in the same program, could it be a software issue? I use sketchbook pro
Have you made sure the tips of the Pencils are completely screw on snuggly?
I use an Adonit Pixel with my iPad Pro and have no skipping issues in SketchBook Pro.
Yes, everytime it skips I check if the tips are screwed on
Could it be a palm rejection issue?
Turning off Zoom totally worked for me. Thank you so much. I tried everything, Re-boot, tighten tip, nothing worked but turning ZOOM off. Thank you so much.
Turning off the zoom solved the problem for me. Thanks!
