Headphone icon in status bar

After the most recent update, i have now started to see a headphone icon in the status bar beside the bluetooth icon. It is causing the battery on my bluetooth to drain quicker than usual. I do not have any headphones plugged in to cause the icon to populate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried a soft reset as well.

Could you post a screenshot of this? Have you just purchased some new headphones that are connecting via Bluetooth? I have some JVC Sport Bluetooth headphones and they show a battery meter for the headphones when they are connected, but it does not appear if the headphones are not powered on and connected.

The icon is displayed if the device sends a signal to the iPhone to report the connection and battery status. That is something new for the iPhone. I agree with deggie that the icon is just a standard, they don't have different icons for different devices. It is just reporting the device connected and the battery status of the device.

As far as the connection, you may need to check in Settings>General>Accessibility and make sure that the Audio Source is set to automatic. That should have the audio go to the headset when it is in use.

User uploaded fileHere is a screenshot. When my Bluetooth is turned on both the Bluetooth & headphones icon appear. It's a Plantronics PT Legend. When I plug in my actual headphones the headphone icon disappears then my Bluetooth call will switch over to the headphones. This never happened until the last update. When i actually insert a pair of headphones the headphone icon disappears & the bluetooth icon shows up.

I did everything everyone has been suggesting and I'm still not getting volume. The icon is still there too. Very frustrating to pay so much for this device and have it not work right.

Since this is your first entry into this thread, how about taking time to indicate what your issue is. The thread has nothing to do with volume. The reason the icon is there has been explained. If there is something you do not understand, or have a different issue, it would be nice if you explained what your problem is, what version of the iPhone you have, what iOS, and what troubleshooting you have tried.

It doesn't have a variation for Borg styled headsets that don't have the A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) profile. But it is still showing that you have a Bluetooth device connected to your iPhone. The icon itself won't draw any extra battery.

Which device has the battery going twice as fast? The Edge or the iPhone? If it is the iPhone try forgetting the Edge in Settings > Bluetooth and re-pair them.
