Safari opens page in wrong tab

Same problem since upgrading the OS back in December. Additionally sometimes it will close the tab I originally pulled up the content in and then move it to the tab I clicked on while waiting for it to load....

For example, let's say I have 4 tabs opened, numbered 1-4 from left to right. I go to tab 4 and type in a search term "Safari randomly closing tabs" or let's saying I'm doing an auto trader search and I kick off the search, I jump back to tab 3 while my search loads to read, within a second or two, my results are now on tab3 and tab4 has completely closed. When I hit back in tab3 to go back to what was originally in tab 3, it goes back to what was originally in tab 4. It's very odd and becoming extremely annoying.

I've rebooted, cleared content, blah blah blah and it still does it.

I've had the exact same issue for over a month now. Have tried every offered solution with zero results. Drives me crazy as I'll frequently open multiple new tabs/pages, only to have them load over each other with no option to use the Back function to return to the page or content the new link just overwrote.

Might be a new bug. Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

Click on go to go folder & type ~/Library , find a folder Safari > remove the contents except bookmarks as you must be saving bookmarks into the trash , remove the contents of logs , caches , cookies , saved application state into the trash .

Look for internet plugins , input methods - must be empty , Launch Agents

Restart the machine & empty the trash .

In case if anti virus , third party software is there it should be uninstalled .

Ok , fine many users are using Malwarebytes for Mac , Etrecheck to find the location , name of the malware & you have not answered , do you use anti virus , third party software if in case it is yes it is to be uninstalled for sure .

No freaking way I'm nuking my mac over a stupid Safari issue. Waste of time, Apple should figure out the problem and fix it. I've got no spyware or viruses on my machine. This is a result one of the two recent updates and it's super annoying.

It is nice you trying to help, but it is useless.

Nothing in Safari has been changed nor new software installed.

Everything was working just fine until some sierra update. We cannot solve the problem, Apple has to.

I've been having the same issue. Open a second tab, start loading a page, flip back to the first tab and the page starts loading there instead. Very frustrating.

The only fix I've found so far is to ⌘+Q and start using Chrome.

Tab on Safari

Try Safari/Preferences/Tabs and uncheck When a new tab or window opens, make it active.

Unfortunately unchecking the box doesnt work!
