DVD audio but no video

Airplay works great except when I try to watch a DVD from my MacBook on Apple TV.

DVD player boots up but there is only audio, no video.

Video appears very very briefly if I go from full-screen to half screen or vice versa but disappears immediately.Audio plays uninterrupted.

I've gone into DVD player preferences but nothing seems obviously out of place.

Any suggestions?
