I can't hear my voice in garageband

I wan't to record some vocals but I can't hear my voice through the mic.

In system preferences on my computer I have the output sound as built in mic and my input sound as the NT1-a mic.

I have done the excact same thing on garageband. Am I doing something wrong?

Did you assign an input to the vocal track?

Check the Info panel ℹ of the smart controls for the track. It should be showing a high record level and the input for the should be set to your microphone.
