The strange case of the blur borders effect

I was forced to upgrade my older Macbook Pro, and thus move my presentations to the newest Keynote (7.0.5) from my older 2009 version of the software. I have grudgingly come to terms with the lost features, such as restrictions on video formats, missing transitions (Falling Tiles, Burn, etc.) and so forth, but one feature has me puzzled. I sometimes liked to blur the edges of images and video clips using the Borders "Picture Frame" selection that softened edges; it had a slider that allowed you to adjust the degree of feathering. It is seemingly missing among the Picture Frame border options in the new Keynote; however, any of my old presentations that included that effect still have it, adjustable sliders and all.

Stranger still, I can copy and paste the style of an older blurred image and paste it to an image in a new presentation... and the blurred edges are transferred to the new image, and are adjustable. So apparently at some level this is still "allowed"

I have the same experience using Pages. An image with the 'fuzzy' border can be copied and pasted and the 'style' associated with the image CAN be added to image styles within the document containing the image.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge can explain how/why but for me I just copy and paste the image from my old document into a new one and I have the 'fuzzy' border option available.

Yes, disappointing that some features (important, IMO) have been dropped from v5.2. But, even though I can copy and paste an image with a blurred border from v5.2 to v7.0.5, I can't find any way of making adjustments to the pasted image. Also, copying the style of a pasted image within v7.0.5 and applying it to a new image doesn't work either, nor does adding the style to the Style palette in the Format Inspector. So it seems fine tuning needs to be done in v5.2 – or just not bother with v7.0.5...

Yes, this is a problem that needs addressing in next update. Blurred/feathered borders I've used a lot in PowerPoint & I sorely miss this functionality in Keynote v.7.0.5... I also miss the ability to have an imbedded video assume full screen mode in slide show. From what I see in options I've got to manually drag the borders of the video to the corners of the slide... tedious, PowerPoint has a selection for: "full screen mode" on playback... am I just missing this somewhere in Keynote?
