workout section of activity app not updating

So I have had my watch a few days. I have taken it out twice now and used the Workout app to start an outdoor run. I have ran for the recommended 20 minutes plus each time so that it can "callibrate" and learn my strides, etc.. The workout is registering in the activity ring as exercise (or at least it finally did yesterday) but if you go to the workout tab where it says you should see your workout history here, there is nothing. What gives? I want to be able to see my average HR while running, mile splits, etc... yes, I know I can link a 3rd party app but I want to know why the apple app isn't working?

Hi

The following steps may help:

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone:

Check that Wrist Detection is turned on and that, if passcode is enabled, you are unlocking your watch after placing it on your wrist

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wrist Detection - turn on.

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that both Fitness Tracking and Health are enabled.

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that Fitness Tracking and Heart Rate are enabled.

Check that you are following Apple's instructions for using the Workout app, including for starting and ending workouts:

Restart both your iPhone and your watch:

Unpair and re-pair your watch:

I have done all of these steps and more.

I do not wish to have to go to the health app to get info. It is tedious and time consuming. The activity app has a place where the workouts should be logged and from what I have seen where others have screenshotted theirs, it does show average heart rate and mile splits, so no, I shouldn't have to use a third party app to get the stats I want. I should be able to see it there. Instead it just says something like ... this is where your workouts will be logged, open up the workout app on your watch to get started...

yeah, have already done that several times!
