How do I update iPhoto 7.1.5 to the current Photo app?

I had been working on an old MacBook that did not support recent OS's. I have now upgraded to a newer MacBook that is updated to OS 10.11.6. Unfortunately, my iPhoto 7.1.5 is not accessible & I have had no luck finding a way to upgrade it. Any suggestions?? Thank you!

There is no way to purchase iPhoto 9.6.1 now that you need. Apple stopped selling iPhoto when the new Photos for Mac has been released and Apple stopped the development of iPhoto. You can only update iPhoto '11 versions you purchased from the AppStore.

You can migrate your old iPhoto Libraries to Photos for Mac, if you prepare them with the iPhoto Library Upgrader, see this link: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

Once the library has been prepared, you can open it in Photos for Mac to migrate it to the new format.

You are far too late and can not - you need to learn and user Photos which is a totally new program with new features and new workflows and has a learning curve - the Photos users tips have several articles to help with the process and to help replace old features that some people miss - Photos for Mac

see these among the others Notes on Migrating an iPhoto Library from iPhoto to Photos for Mac
