mail backup with time machine

When I restart my MBPro2016 Sierra 10.12.2 Time Machine will not show "On My Mac" folders/emails for previous backups.

So I wipe the TM drive and redo backup, until I restart.

Works OK if I just put MBPro to sleep, but not if I restart it will lose access to "On My Mac" folders in TM.

I've reindexed the Mac. I've reset PRAM. But whenever I restart I no longer will see "On My Mac" in TM for previous backups.

Time Machine has never had a separate category with that name, so it's unclear what you are expecting.

Locally connected Time Machine volumes will have a folder at their root level named Backups.backupdb. Network TM backups contain a sparse disk image named for the source Mac. There is no "On My Mac".

More explanation is needed.

I also have to wipe the drive and back up everything every time.

It seems to be working ok most of the time if I just use Sleep not Shut Down.

Not sure if the problem is Mail or Time Machine.

Hope it's fixed soon.

The title is "mail backup"

There is "On My Mac" in Apple Mail.

"On My Mac" is what is NOT showing in Time Machine when I look at backups in TM after restarting.

what is weird is I can put the MBPro to sleep and Mail/TM works OK, just when I restart.
