iPhone Data Recovery

Hello,

I currently have an iPhone 6 plus (64GB) and about a week ago, my phone began acting up and saying that no photos are in my camera roll. When I went to settings to look at my current storage, it shows as having 36GB's of photos. After about a full day of this, my shut down unexpectedly and was unable to successfully turn on.

After trying the "update" option with iTunes, it eventually deleted the old iOS but did not successfully install the new software onto my phone. I received the "-1" and "6" errors when attempting these updates. It now just shows the "support.apple.com/iphone.restore" url on the phone with the iTunes logo and does not successfully start up. When I plug it into iTunes, it says that my phone cannot be updated, and that it must be wiped and restored.

(As a note, my iPhone is partially backed up on iCloud and Dropbox, but there are a ton of pictures that are not backed up that I would like to get back.)

My main question to the community is, does anyone know about online data recovery software and whether its safe to use or not, or if they even work? (EaseUS MobiSaver, downloads on CNET, etc?) My local Apple Store recommended a data recovery company to me, but they said that it would cost anywhere from $700-$1900 to recover the data.

Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it!

Error -1 is typically a failure of the baseband CPU. The only path to data is getting the phone to accept the update and boot natively into the iOS.

This is a hardware fault and no software solution exists. Because bb_cpu failure is such a common problem on iPhone 6+, you may have a path to data by solving that underlying problem and then trying update again. I would doubt that most data recovery places have enough background knowledge of common hardware faults in iPhones so I would ask them first if they have an understanding of error -1 and how to correct that at hardware level. Many of these places quote really high data recovery pricing as an alternative to saying "we don't know how to fix that". The pictures missing from camera roll is not consistent with error -1 however it might be worth a shot to send it out for data recovery at a shop experienced with hardware faults if the pictures are important to you.

Note that following the advice of mendonipadrehab will permanently forfeit your right to service on that device from Apple, including discounted out of warranty replacement.

Apple does not sell iPhone parts and no unauthorized repair shop has legitimate access to original iPhone parts. Apple does not do component level repairs on iPhones outside of screens and other minor easily replaceable parts. They replace the entire phone.

It should be noted that mendonipadrehab has an undisclosed interest in steering people toward using unauthorized service providers.
