iPad Mini 4 Charger/Lighting port possible damage

Hi, I am quite worried for my iPad Mini as the charger port is not functioning correctly, I bought a new pair of charger for it yesterday and it was working fine. Then today, I saw signs of the charger having a hard time charging as it keeps going on and off unless I try to set it at an angle to temporarily charge it. I set up an appointment going to the apple store about this but I am worried about service fees as my warranty has expired and I don't know what will they do with a possible Charger port being damaged. If anyone is knowledgeable about this, please advice what I should do. My iPad Mini 4 has no visual damage nor nelgection as I take care of it very diligently.

Apple specifically says not to use compressed air:

iPad

Handle your iPad with care to maintain its appearance. If you're concerned about scratching or abrasion, you can use one of the many cases sold separately. To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don't use window cleaners, household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe iPad's screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and might scratch your screen.

You can still take it to the Apple Store Genius Bar and let them look at it. If the hints people have suggested here still don't work, there probably is some sort of malfunction of the port. That being said, if you bring it in to have them look at it, they aren't going to charge you for that. When you would get charged is if they have to do any work or replacement of it. They will be able to tell you at the time what kind of charges you are looking at, but the initial inspection of it you won't be charged for.

If there is a malfunction in the port of the iPad , could they fix that or a replacement in which I might have to pay 299 which is too much for me and I don't have any insurance for it anymore. I really don't want to stop using it, it's only a over a year old and everything works splendidly but the charger port bugging out on me only charging at a certain angle as if it's trying to find a connector. The weird thing is that every single cable I bought over the pass one and a half month is that they work for a certain time and then starts having malfunction s in which I know it can't be my cable or adaptor as I bought them all from apple. If it's battery service, I kind of doubt because my battery does not run out very quickly not charges slow. I tried everything as suggested and did not find any sort of lint or dust from a pin or tooth pic. If they can't fix this and ask for a replacement but at cost without insurance. I'll just deny it and save up for a laptop sadly. I am just sad about the cause of it.
