Can't load a certain website

When I try to open healthproductsforyou.com I get this message:

User uploaded file

I can load any other website so I called the company and the guy on the phone tried and was able to. I then went to the website where you enter the URL and it will tell you if the site is up or not. The site said the site was up and running. I cleared my cache, reset Safari, restarted my computer and followed these instructions:

User uploaded file

The only thing I could not do is use the latest version of Safari because I am running OSX 10.8.5 and Safari 6.2.8 and I do not have a router and only use the Firewall that came with my iMac and I have visited this website in the past a few times and it worked then so I tried using Google Chrome and got this message:

User uploaded file

Then I tried Firefox and got this message:

User uploaded file

This happened yesterday and today, several attempts both days. So I am stumped. What should I try now?

OSX 10.8.5 and Safari 6.2.8

The issue is that your Mac is running an outdated OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion and an outdated version of Safari.

See if your Mac can upgrade to macOS Sierra > How to get macOS Sierra - Apple Support

That way your Mac would be running the latest OS available and the latest version of Safari 10.0.3.

Even other browsers such as Firefox > https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

And Google Chrome > https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en -GB

Require at least OS X v10.9 or later.

Last night, I first unplugged my cable modem for about a minute and then plugged it back in to see if that would help but it did not. I then booted my computer in safe mode, launched Safari and then tried healthproductsforyou.com and VOILA, I was able to get that website and I noticed that Avast did not load in safe mode, so I rebooted and then tried the website but Avast was on so I was unable to get the website but Avast has a feature where you can turn off the web shield or you can enter certain web sites that Avast will not scan if you enter them so at first I turned off web shield and I was able to get the website so then I entered the website as one for Avast not to scan and I was able to get the site, so your recommendation is correct and I thought of it to. It seems great minds think alike, lol. Now here is something else that happened that I can not figure out, when I go to https://safari-extensions.apple.com/en-us/ using Safari, the same thing happens when I use to go to healthyproductsforyou.com even when I turn off web shield and enter that address into Avast not to scan but when I use Google Chrome or Firefox, which Avast scans sites on them also, I AM able to get that website so why is only Safari not letting me go to that website saying it can not get a secure connection?

As for Intego, I uninstalled that years ago because Avast would not install without first getting rid of any other antivirus program so there still must be some lingering files that were left behind when I got rid of Intego. As for Avast, it has prevented, a few times, me from getting on dangerous websites with messages that those websites have malware and one time it found an infected file I had and prevented me a couple of times from downloading an infected file so are you saying that I should have no anti virus protection on my iMac?

Jan 25, 2017 10:28 AM in response to Eric Root

When I disabled my Avast extension, Safari still did not let me access https://safari-extensions.apple.com/en-us/ but Google Chrome and Firefox does and when I enable Avast, I get the same results so it is not Avast for that particular website. The only problem Avast has ever given me was to that one site heathproductsforyou.com and I have had Avast for awhile.

I thank you so much for all the time, information and effort you have given me. I will mark your previous comment as this solved my problem since I can now go to healthproductsforyou.com. As for https"//safari-extensions.apple.com/en-us/ not working in Safari but working in Google Chrome and Firefox with Avast on or off, I will just use Google Chrome or Firefox when accessing that site but note, Avast is also on Google Chrome and Firefox so who knows. Thank you for your reference to ClamXav. I knew about it but did not realize that one works best with the OS.

Jan 25, 2017 6:35 PM in response to Eric Root

I submitted the following message in Feedback Safari does not let me access https://safari-extensions.apple.com/en-us/ but Google Chrome and Firefox does. Safari says it can not get a secure connection, so I emptied cache, reset Safari, started up in Safe Mode, turned off my anti virus program, restarted my computer and the results are the same. On Apples's community boards concerning Safari, there have been other comments from people with this same problem but as of yet, no solution has been posted. Please look into this matter.

Jan 24, 2017 10:28 AM in response to Carolyn Samit

I can visit all other websites on Safari and Google Chrome and Firefox except this one, including bank sites, etc. I even tried clicking on Develop/User Agent and clicking on Safari 8.08, Internet Explorer 10.0, Goole Chrome - Mac, Firefox -Mac, etc. It seems crazy to do a whole system upgrade to just view this one website and it could cause problems I do not have now. Can you load healthproductsforyou.com?

Jan 25, 2017 10:32 AM in response to CharlieD

Try disabling any extensions you have installed.

Try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Try disabling your Avast extension to see if you can get to the website.

Based on what I have seen in these forums, anti-virus software usually causes more problems than it solves. Avast seems to be a program that causes a lot more problems than others. I haven't run any anti-virus software on my computers for at least 10 years. Your best defense is being careful about where you go on the Internet. If you want anti-virus software, the one below seems to work with the OS better than most.
