It appears to be adware.
Run Etrecheck to see what stuff is installed on your machine.
I don't know about this one specifically, but for several types of adware Etrecheck can assist you in removing it.
Etrecheck is a utility by a respected member of this community that gives you information about the software and hardware you have, information that has helped inumerous users in solving their problems.
If you are in doubt about what you see, post Etrecheck's report here so we can have a look and assist you.
Many thanks. I already had that program and it told me that everything was ok. No problems.
I sampled the process and it logs to some software I use like pro tools and waves plugins.
Any malware software you would recommend?
Ch
I was wondering if "DAW" in this context could mean "Digital Audio Workstation".
I can see an item in your report: com.waves.daemon.SoundGrid.DawNodeService.plist
Does this mean anything to you?
SoundGrid produces audio hardware. It looks like this is part of its software.
An odd point from your report:
You have Gatekeeper set to "Anywhere" - which is odd since "Anywhere" is no longer an option in Sierra.
I suggest you set this to "App Store and identified developers" in System Preferences->Security&Privacy->General.
(You can still run other applications you trust)
Do a Google search for the term sgdawnodeservice. I haven't really studied the results but it seems that it is a somewhat common question that comes up on forums. Looks like it could have something to do with sound or music software. One of the results calls it "an unwanted program file that could be dangerous to computer system...". Not sure if that is an overstatement or not.

Yes, Digital Audio Workstation. I run Pro Tools and some other software like Logic plus the Waves and other plugins.
Look at my Gatekeeper: (I still have from anywhere option) Sierra 10.12.2
Just guessing here... maybe it was set that way in El Capitan and the update left it as was?
It is not supposed to be there in Sierra - this was widely discussed at the time, with a lot of people fearing they might be prevented from using unsigned applications (fortunately not true, at least for now; one just has to control-click, choose Open and confirm in a dialog, the *first* time one runs each unsigned application, then one can use it like any other)
I also run Logic and have previously installed SoundGrid by Waves.
After switching to network card "none" I still saw CPU use, so I ran the uninstaller SoundGrid Driver Uninstaller.app in
/Applications/Waves/SoundGrid/Utilities/
I will now restart and see if this helps. Previously:
PID USER PRI NI VIRT RES SHR S CPU% MEM% TIME+ Command
100 root 97 0 663M 11288 0 S 3.0 0.1 0:00.93 /System/Library/Extensions/SoundGrid.kext/Contents/MacOS/SGDawNodeService runasservice
Download and run MalwareBytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC. It gets rave reviews and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac.
I'm going to try it.
I'll report later.
Many thanks 🙂
I already did that. No relevant info, just what you described.
But I'm assuming that it's probably from the audio software. Everything I have is legit.
Many thanks
Maybe that's it, but I updated from Yosemite and it was like it is now. Thanks 🙂
