i bought a iphone 5 second hand for my son for christmas and cant get by pass the apple id or password

Only the original owner can unlock the iPhone. There is no way to bypass it. If you can't contact the owner you are sadly out of luck.

If you get in contact of the owner follow these steps:

Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

Sorry, but you cannot bypass Activation Lock (see Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support). Only the person who setup find my iPhone and knows the AppleID Password used can disable it. Apple will not help you as they do not get involved at all with private party sales or exchanges of personal items.

You cannot bypass it.

If you bought from a website like Ebay open a case and get your money back .

Iphone will not work only the owner who knows the apple id

Can remove it .
