iTunes error -590624

Hello mates, Here is my problem.

I own an iPhone 5s, which is locked to carrier. Thats way i use it like an iPod. The problem comes from the rest I did today. After it I am unable to activate it. I shouldnt have a problem to activate it with iTunes, but i got a strange error when I connect the phone.

The error says: There was a temporary problem completing your request. An unknown error occurred (590624). Try again later.

I use the latest version of iTunes.

Do you have any suggestions ? Thanks .

iPhone 5s, Windows 10, Latest iTunes

I got the same error while trying to restore an iPod on my PC via iTunes. I connected to my iMac and it worked, no error. It did ask for my apple id and p/w to get past the activation lock, so I believe the PC error has to do with the removal of the Activation Lock feature they had in iCloud. Apple is scrambling to fix a huge hole and will hopefully have a fix soon. I buy Apple products and if I can't check them before I buy them, then I can't buy them. I will call Apple support, give them the serial number and ask them to tell me if the device is iCLoud locked. The more people do that the quicker they will find a new solution.

I had the same exact problem on my iPod touch. This is how I fixed it. I tried it out first a few times, and it worked. Here are the exact steps I did:

1. Turn on iPod touch/iPhone.

2. Follow on-screen instructions to set up; when given the option to restore from backup, choose Set Up as New.

3. Connect your iPod/iPhone using your USB cable. You may have to unplug and plug your iPod/iPhone back in so that iTunes finds it.

4. If iTunes asks you Trust the computer, select yes.

Once iTunes finds your iPod/iPhone, you should be able to restore it from a previous backup (if you have any).

I hope this helps, please let me know and I'll try to do more research.

Not working for me either I am trying with an iPhone 3 and the only way to get it working is via iTunes. So yeah i am pretty stuck for now. I've been trying for two days now.

Anyone got any ideas of maybe how I could get round this ? I don't think there is any other way other than plugging it into iTunes because its a iPhone 3

Seems abit too complex to have to install a Mac OS on a virtual machine. Surely there must be a simpler fix ? We know that it seems to work on Macs however not windows ?

I really can't get my head around the problem ? It seems to defiantly be a fault on apples behalf and effecting people across the board on windows. It been 3 days and not working.

As i got a new phone I could't tell if it was broken or if its just apples fault and I think it after alot of people are struggling with this we know the faults with them.

I did read try again later under the message but how long is latter its been 3 days now ?

Hey!

I had this same problem with iTunes erroring 590624 when I had my iPad Mini coming back from the service and I tried to restore a backup from iTunes. I solved this problem by connecting to WLAN (Wi-Fi) network in the setting up the new device, and then selecting to choose a backup from iTunes. I also tried changing the USB port of my computer, might help you too.
Hope this could be helpful for you and other people out there!
Best,

J-P

Yesterday i went to my gf house and tried with her mac; obviously it worked. Then i tried with my pc windows and it worked too. Then i came back to my place and tried again and it's working. Dunno what happened but it's synching right now! Only problem is that immediately when i connected my ipod to itunes an error pop up saying that itunes can't verify the identity of the server safebrowsing.clients.google.com.

Anyway it seems working right now

i work for a carrier (o2) and even we have the same problem, if i try to activate a new phone, wont work, if i plug in a already activated phone it works, bu then i wipe it for a new staff member at o2, try to set it up for the new employee and I get this error.

I have to wireless hotspot from a non iPhone device and put a blank sim in the phone for it to work, but it still does not work every time, its a pot luck thing really at the moment.

I'm on a windows 10 PC, running iTunes 12.5.5.5 and am getting the 5980624 error if I try and plugin it to try to activate through iTunes and if I try through wifi it times out and says it can't be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I have an iPhone 5 with StraightTalk. I recently wiped it and the number got ported from this phone to another one.

After not working and giving the 5980624 error, it also gives me, "iTunes can't verify the identity of the server safebrowsing.clients.google.com." Certificate for the server is invalid.
