Small dent in touchpad

Hi guys,

Today, after day of work I noticed small (1mm x 1mm) dent on the edge of the touchpad in my Macbook Pro 15'' 2016. Looks like tiny fragment chipped from the touchpad or was punctured by something.

I am sure I didn't hit my macbook with anything and I don't wear watch or bracelets.

Can it be caused by material defect or temperature?

Before the upgrade, I had Macbook Pro from 2011 and never had any issues with the touchpad.

Any ideas?

IMMEDIATELY, open the MBP and check the battery. It may have expanded and been the cause of the damage. If so, remove it immediately because it will continue to expand and severely damage the Mac. You will need a #00 Phillips driver for the back plate and a #0 Triwing driver to remove the battery.

If the battery is normal, then the cause of the damage is a mystery to me.

Ciao.
