Hotspot keeps dropping out

One of the things that really annoys me about personal hotspot is that it disconnects when no data has been transferred to or from a connected device for a while. You have to reconnect it by turning it off and on again. Why can't Apple design hotspot to stay connected as long as it is switched on?

Or is there a way configuring it so it does? Am I missing something?

Thanks for this info.

"If you disconnect all devices from a Wi-Fi Personal Hotspot, it turns off automatically."

There's the answer - and this is the thing that annoys me. Why can't personal hotspot stay on until you decide to turn it off?

Apple need to fix this as I'm sick of turning it off and on again every time I need to reconnect devices >:(
