6s/6s Plus and higher not compatible with 2015 Honda Accord and other Honda Vehicles

I have a 2015 Honda Accord and one of the features they offer is the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink - you can receive and send text messages from your paired and linked phone. Although all of the settings on my car and phone are set to use this, it does not work. After contacting Honda of America, I was told that the issue is that Apple does not support my phone, a 6s Plus, and in order to get it to work, Apple would have to make it available, and to contact them. After digging a little further in to the HandsFreeLink on Honda website (http://automobiles.honda.com/handsfreelink/)and I was able to confirm what I was told by Honda. So now I have had this car for two years and Apple still hasn't stepped up to the plate and fixed this to make it compatible - a feature I had been very interested in when I purchased the vehicle. So Apple, when are you going to fix this issue? I'm sorry, but not having compatibility with your product and my vehicle is not acceptable, as I am sure many other Honda owners would agree when they have purchased a vehicle with this feature, but then find out their newer Apple phone isn't compatible. Over two years is a long time to wait, and honestly if this isn't fixed it could affect my future relationship with the iPhone when it comes time to get a new phone.

Well, get ready to get angry. Honda is historically terrible about updating their devices to support that latest Bluetooth profiles. As you can see, they cannot support the new one on a vehicle that is two years old, and there have been 2 major iOS updates since then. If you do a search of the forum here, you will also find the CR-V seems to have the most problems. Honda receives the latest iOS updates to ensure their devices are compatible with the latest Bluetooth. It is up to them to determine if they will support the latest updates, and they have plenty of time to prepare. You need to vent your anger towards them. I've been reading around here long enough to know they are very lax on their support. The iPhone is not your problem.

Just to add fuel to the fire, my 2015 Accord EX-L V6-Nav doesn't load my complete phonebook. I have ABC then nothing until MNO. Seriously, HandsFreeLink when you have to access your phonebook by scrolling through on your phone as you're driving. I've programmed the speed dials for easy access to my home & wife's numbers & even Siri was more help than Honda's tech support. You would think that the company that manufactures such a popular phone(iPhone) and the company that manufactures such a popular vehicle(Accord) would understand the importance of helping their customer base by working together as they both roll out new product.

I AGREE!!! Looking at other SmartPhones currently. I know Samsung works beautifully with my 2015 Accord Touring, I tested my son's. I'll be shopping for another phone if IPhone does not step up to that plate with 10! And I'll definitely check before I buy! If not, they lose me. I'm not buying a new car just because IPhone is so lax with this. I'll just switch brands.

Have you found anything out yet? I am getting ready to ditch my IPhone loyalty and move on over to a phone that works with my 2015 Accord. This is ridiculous. I purchased the top of the line Accord Touring, was TOLD about the texting features and it does not work. I called Honda and they helped me with a couple settings on my IPhone, which did make it at least read texts to me, but I cannot pick a reply option - when I do it tries to E-MAIL, then says "e-mail failed". OF COURSE IT DID! Then I set my son's Samsung into the car and everything worked BEAUTIFULLY. It even announced who the texter is. Mine just suddenly says "would you like to read" out of the clear blue. A little unsettling to say the least. I'm not buying another new car just because of this! Is it HONDA or is it IPhone? and how do I update my Honda, if it's just a simple software update. Cannot find instructions on that.
