Windows Boot Camp Installer Stuck

Just got a new OWC Aura SSD for my Early 2015 Macbook Pro. Tried to install Windows 10 onto it as a Boot Camp partition but not working. Heres the go; Gone into microsoft store to download the ISO. Gone then into Boot Camp Assistant, I select my freshly downloaded x64 ISO, it partitions the SSD, restarts the computer, I go into setup, and the installer is stuck at Getting Files Ready For Installation (4%). What could this be? Thanks!

Hi all! I found out what the problem was with the Aura SSD. I had firmware version P0226A, which is causing problems with Windows. Below is word for word response from OWC/MacSales:

-----

It was recently discovered that some Aura PCIe SSDs for Mid-2013+ MacBook Pro and MacBook Air have a firmware issue which causes the Windows installation process within Boot Camp to hang. This is not related to the Dual Boot Enabler application.

We are working on a solution for the drives that do have the P0226A firmware. When the update is available we will let you know.

So guys, when I know of this firmware update, I'll post it up for you!

Hello pilotbarks,

I had the same problem back in February, got RMA from OWC/Macsales, sent them my Aura 1TB - desired upgrade for my MacBookPro Retina Mid 2014.

Now I have my Aura back with firmware Q0203B. So far I tried to migrate my Bootcamp partition with Windows 7 Enterprise from original 256GB SSD with no success. I tried Winclone pro and through discutility image restore.

After migration in both cases first boot to windows causes blackscreen. Second shows windows boot menu, where I am able to choose Safe mode, command line, normal mode, etc. Whatever the choice it follows with blackscreen.

Tried to repair it with Win7 install USB with no success.

  1. Do you have any ideas about how to proceed to make it succesfully?
  2. Also could you please mention how did it go in your case. What firmware do you currently have on your Aura and how far are you with Windows (which version) installation on Bootcamp?

Thanks in advance!

I have the exact same problem with a 1tb OWC Aura SSD on a MacBook Pro 13" early 2015 (12.1)... The windows 10 installer stops at 2-3% every single time, same install worked great on the stock SSD drive ... Really hope they will find a solution soon, bootcamp with boot enabler was my main reason to buy the ssd. They have not responded to my support ticket...

After boot selection mode it goes directly to black screen even if I choose Safe Mode. No other screen appears afterwards, so no chkdsk neither.

Before making a copy with Winclone I ran SysPrep on original SSD (tried also before SysPrep, both with the same result), which should run chkdsk automatically after next boot (in this case after migrating to OWC Aura). Unfortunately it didn't go for chkdsk, but blackscreen directly.

Nevertheless I did go for chkdsk from Winows USB installer disk.

It threw a warning saying, if I remember well, that other process is using the drive and to run it requires the disk to be unmounted. I agreed for this and chkdsk run without any errors, nor bad sectors, no repairs needed. It didn;t improve anything :/

First I did it without SysPrep... as it didn't work I tried with SysPrep thinking it may take into account the disk change and it's hardware configuration (in general SysPrep was also adviced by Winclone tutorial).

I have no idea whether any of these two images would restore back to the original drive. I don't want to try it as this would force me to erase the original Windows copy(the only one working of this instance). And I don't want to loose it in case of failure.
