My CarPlay is disconnecting over and over

Im having the same issue in my 2017 VW Polo. So far I've tried the following with no luck;

• Changing lightning cables (both from Apple)

• Resetting my iPhone 6S, and iPhone 7, neither can sustain a connection

• Updating to iOS 10.3.1

• Deleting the car from the Bluetooth memory (forget device)

• Deleting the car from CarPlay memory (forget car)

• Deleting all VPN settings

• Turning off iCloud music library (I now have approximately 50 songs on my phone)

Nothing is working :(

Once I TURNED OFF THE VPN I have had no problems. You need to go to the app in settings to turn off. I was just sliding the green button to turn off and it would automatically come back on. So there is another way to turn it off in the settings. Once I did that it solved my issues. No disconnecting music or my phone calls. So I ended up just getting rid of the VPN altogether.

I had this problem too in my VW Passat. I read on a VW owners site that it might be because I was using a third-party Lightning-USB cord. Sure enough, when I switched to an Apple cord, the problem went away.

Having the same problem. I'm pretty sure it started when I added a VPN to my iPhone. I turned the VPN off and it appears to have solved the problem.

My problem is that it connects fine on some days, not at all on others.

When it won't connect, I push in the car radio's on/off button for 15 seconds until it resets. Then it connects.

If you have a VPN, remove it completely from phone. After I removed it all my problems were solved with CarPlay. Hope this works for you.

Just curious did you have a VPN on your phone when you were having problems?

No, I've never used VPN on my phone.

What VPN app do you use? I've had problems just recently with carplay connecting and staying connecting. But everything seemed to work fine for a couple months before I had problems.

Norton by Symentic. As soon as I disconnected no problems since. And it has been 2 months. So I am assuming that was the cause.
