decrypt filevault stuck at rotating pin

I have turned off FileVault and restarted sierra. I went out to eat vada. When I came back, MacBook screen is black with a rotating pin and an immovable pointer.

I have left it so for about 3 hrs. What should I do?

Force power off! After reboot decryption is complete with in 15min. My apprehension wasted 3hrs. I should have believed in apple though the above pic is shot on iPhone 5s.
