My mail app has stopped showing me the latest email.

Recently Apple Care did some changes to my iMac 21.5. The very next email I received in my Mail app only made the chime sound, and did not show me the actual email as it has been doing since purchasing this computer. How do I get back the ability to see the newest email coming in. Typically the new email shows in the upper right corner of my iMac screen. I am using MacOS Sierra 10.12.3, and the Mail app is 10.2. I liked being able to see the new email immediately without changing the screen I am viewing. Please help. Please understand, I am not referring to not being able to see recent emails within the Mail app. I'm speaking of - when I am in Safari or Pages and a new email comes into the inbox within the Mail app, the popup showing that email used to appear on my desktop. It no longer does this. I just hear the chime informing me something has happened.

I did as you suggested and this is what I can see when I go to the notifications icon in System Preferences. The following screenshot is before I tried to make any changes. Since the area already has selected everything you suggest, I think I need more information as to why the email has stopped showing up in the upper right corner of my iMac screen.

Please help me get the banners of my emails showing up again in the upper right corner of my iMac screen on my desktop. Again this only began to occur after Apple Support had me change one of my email addresses for the Mail app. HELP?

Good afternoon RebekkahRoseRyan,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

It sounds like the notifications for your Mail application on your Mac need to be reconfigured. I think you are describing the banner style notification. To change your setting, choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click the Notifications icon. Select Mail in the list of applications on the left, and then choose Banners as the Mail alert style. Your email messages will appear in the upper-right corner of your screen, then will slide off screen to the right.

Hi RebekkahRoseRyan,

It looks like you are in the right place. I would suggest the following steps:

1) Change the Mail alert style to None.
2) Click the red dot in the upper-left corner to close the Preferences window.
3) Quit the Mail application and restart the computer
4) Open the Notification Center in System Preferences again.
5) Change the Mail alert style back to Banners, and change the "Show message preview" to "always."
6) Close the preferences windows and launch Mail
7) Monitor to see if incoming messages appear now in the upper-right corner of your screen.

Take care.
