IPad RAM Issues

I have an IPad 2 (about 5 years old), it has worked without issue since I got it but for about 18 months it has got so slow it keeps dropping out of apps when trying to load them or in the middle of using an app it will go black screen for 30 seconds and throw me out. Even if I try to open a second app when using an app (ie Messenger in Facebook) it will throw me out.

it looks like a RAM issue but I have checked the RAM using various Monitoring apps and they show different amounts of free memory - some say 8MB, some say 292MB

is there anyway to confirm if some of the RAM is faulty or an App to clean up my RAM - I have tried all the usual tricks to minimise the RAM usage but nothing helps. Although over the years I have noticed that after every IOS upgrade it has got slower. I use this a lot for my work and if I upgrade to a new IPad I will lose a lot of data and access to sites as I can't change Passwords or email address due to losing my email account that I originally registered when initially loaded apps.

My wife has an IPad Mini 1 and she has the very minimum amount of apps on it (she uses it for Facebook, Fitbit, emails, Safari and a few games) and that has the same issues of being very slow and kicking her out of Apps.

Any advice would be appreciated

Those sorts of apps are generally pretty close to useless. And, unless you have jailbroken your iPad, it is highly unlikely that you have malware so, don't waste your time on that.

The fact that you no longer use the email address that you're using as your Apple ID is not necessarily a problem. As long as you remember the passcode to that Apple ID, you can continue to use it. You should, however, update it to your current email address. Do NOT create a new Apple ID as that will cause all sorts of issues.

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support

Once you've made sure your Apple ID is properly updated, I'd suggest backing up and restoring your iPad from that back up using iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS onto the iPad. If that doesn't help, restore the iPad as new and test. If it works properly, the problem is in your data. If it doesn't, you may have a hardware issue. However, you should now have a back up and a properly working Apple ID which means you can consider changing iPads, either with an out-of-warranty replacement if a trip to the Genius Bar at your local Apple store opens up that option or by purchasing a newer model.

Best of luck.
