CD Won't Upload!

Today, my sister and I got new 2.0 Ghz, OS X 10.4.8 MacBooks.

We absolutely love them....however...when we try to upload some cds, it will get to a point and then freeze. These CDs are virtually scratch free, and I've never had any problem with them on my previous Mac (an eMac). This has happened with at least 3 CDs. What's up with this??

Thanks!

I have a similar problem with my brand new macbook(superdrive 6x). It freezes when I try to import about 50% of my CDs into itunes. Then it makes a rhythmic whirring sound. I can't stop the import process. I can't eject the CD. I have to force quit itunes, then restart the computer before I can get the CD to eject.

I've been working with Apple on it. Reloaded software, did utility check, etc, etc. Problem is still unsolved. I think they're planning to replace the computer now. Be sure to take this problem to support. Apple needs to know about it.

Same issue here, wiht new CDs it takes several attempts to read it, I have to push it several times, the CD-R and DVD-R are not accepted either, it seems to be a general problem in MACBOOK and we should let know APPLE, if they dont solve the issue we should rise a flag in pages such as CNET, engadget to capture APPLE attention, I am very dissapointed, this is my first MAC and maybe the last one, I own a LENOVO T60p as well and works like a champ...

Hey everyone,

Here's a couple thoughts that may help:

If you're trying to use a cd w/ iTunes while the computer is tilted, that may be a cause of the problem. The cd/dvd drive is not to be used while the computer is on a slant. The apple care warranty does not cover the cost for damages received while using your macbook in this way.

Also, if you're listening to music as the cd imports, try pausing or stopping the song. This will cause iTunes to import songs faster.

Personally, I haven't had this problem with my macbook yet, and would be curious to know the answer if so if it ever happens to me, I'll know what to do.

Good luck.

Well, I have one too. I almost not use it. I only use it to download photographs from my camera. After I burnt 3 discs and read almost 10, the drive stopped reading CD, but reads DVD.
After I´ve read the posts, I´ve decided to go to an authorized service to try to deal with this problem. Another problem, I have to force the disc into the drive in two moments, half way and two thirds.
