why do MIDI piano roll notes disappear from the the edit mode window?

When in Edit mode, my MIDI information disappears.
So, this update that I am running, 10.3.0, is useless.
Not only is the graphics flat and lifeless, the lack of shading and three-dimensionality renders it exhausting to work in, as familiar visual cues are disguised, camoulflaged, invisible.

Why were the brilliant technicians unable to fix this bug, of not being able to edit?

I remember Sequencer Plus Pro from Voyetra. Never a problem.
Please, someone help.
