Get rid of exclamation mark on iPhone photos

Basically this signifies that the pictures are stored in iCloud. While the advice given in this thread so far is fine, it will result in the downloading of all your photos which, depending on how many, will take a while and a lot of extra space on your device. It should be sufficient to tap on the photos you want to see and they will download if you have an internet connection. The blur and exclamation mark will disappear.

in order to keep your photos non blurry and to get rid of the exclamation mark you have to go into settings and click icloud. Once you click it there will be a series of options you can choose, click Photos. Once you click that, there will be two options that will say "Optimize iPhone storage" and "Download and keep originals" you will most likely be already checked off to "Optimize iPhone Storage" so you want to click "Download and keep originals." When you go back to photos whatever pops up click ignore and your photos should be all good now, non-blurry. Hope this helps.

After 2 years of having this issue, I finally figured it out. So lastnight I got really annoyed with having all 3000+ of my pictures blurry and not being able to upload, view or share them because of the exclamation mark. I went over into the section that says "Photos" and at the bottom I realized that it said downloading paused because phone is saving battery power" MY LOW POWER MODE WAS ON! As soon as I turned it off, all the pictures started to go back to their original setting. They werent blurry or anything. So I think the trick is if your photo settings is set to iCloud Photo Library, Download and Keep Originals The phone is trying to download all the originals into your icloud, and low power mode prevents that from happening because it pauses the download. So, my advice is to keep your phone off of low power mode especially while its uploading new pics. Hopefully this will help you as much as it has helped me.

If this is happening, try this first. Charging your phone. When iOS is in "Low Power Mode" photos will not download from iCloud when in Photos is set to "Optomize iPhone Storage" Turning off low power restored downloads immediately.

I had the same problem. I think its because if youre not connected to wifi it turns off downloading to save mobile data. I resolved this issue by clicking settings>mobile data>photos and switching it to on! Hope this helps!

I have found that when my phone is in "Low battery mode" It does not communicate pictures with iCloud. I turned it off, killed my photos app, and lo and behold the pictures returned to regular quality.

It would seem that the phone doesnt want to connect with iCloud to save battery and typically does the syncing etc when its plugged in and on Wi-Fi.

So I went through all the steps said here and nothing happened. I deleted soooo much. I have extra storage I pay for so i don’t even know why it would’ve been a storage issue. Anyway none of it worked. Then I realized my phone was on the low power mode. Turned that off & my pictures came back to life. Amen! I hope this helps someone

Hey, I had the same problem for a while bit all you have to do it go to settings and search up iCloud, from there you click on that and then click on photos. After that you click “download and keep the originals”. If it still doesn’t work and you are on low battery mode, click off of that and it should give you your videos back! -ella

Check to see if you need to upgrade your storage amount. If you have too little storage available, some pics may have the ! mark on them. Once you've upgraded, reboot your phone. This worked for me, I hope it works for others.

This solved my problem! I didn’t even think about turning low battery mode off cause I always have it on, but once I turned it off all my pictures loaded in seconds

After switching in your settings to “Download and Keep Originals “ and your photos still have the exclamation point it could be if your phone is on Low Power Mode. Turn off Low Power Mode and it will be all cleared up at least for me it did.

Meaning of exclamation mark in iPhone photo album is that you are using iCloud Photo library, and the specific photo’s full-size original could not be loaded from iCloud due to some reasons. This could be due to lack of a network connection or poor WIFI signal, or in worst case it could be file corruption on iCloud’s end . This just happened to me. Make sure you’re signed into your icloud account and everything went back to normal.

One of the possible reasons why your photos/videos wouldn’t download could possibly be that you have low power mode occurring. Low power mode does not download all of your photos and videos and anything that you wished to share. So if your photos/videos don’t download you could possibly be on low power mode so you could turn it off, that is your solution too.

I had the same issue! If you’re phone is on “low power mode” turn that off and maybe it will help? Mine did after I tried everything else everyone suggested. Hope this helps you too!
