iphone 7 in pelican case cuts out

I have an iphone 7 in a pelican marine case. I can hear perfectly and the other party can here me clearly most of the time. During some conversations the other party can't hear me talking at all, but I can hear them. Tried a new sim card, that didn't help. When I take the case off it seams to be working fine. Does anyone else have this problem with a pelican case?

I know this is an old post. However, I just bought the 8 plus with the pelican case and was having this same issue! There is a small white plastic piece on the front of the inside case down by where the charging hole is that needs to be pulled out ! & walla it’s fixed

I have the Marine case for the iPhone 7 as well. This issue is caused by the case muting the phone while you hold it to your ear. In my opinion it has to do with the light sensor that triggers the phone to black the screen when you have it to your ear so your face doesn't push any buttons, if you use Bluetooth it isn't an issue, if you use speaker it isn't an issue. A really bad work around is when the person stops hearing you, pull the phone from your face and mute then un-mute the phone. They will be able to hear you again. I am playing with a few things and taking this to pelican and will report back once I have a better answer.

Same issue here, and it has been an absolute nightmare! I have to call everybody twice, because when they pick up the first time I can hear them but they can’t hear me. I then have to hang up and call back so the call will go through and we can hear each other. Other times people say it sounds like I am at the bottom of a well talking on my phone. I’m taking mine back to the AT&T store, and they had better give me my money back because the case was expensive. It is the worst case I have ever had in terms of degrading phone performance. Like a lot of people I figured it could never be a plastic case causing the problem, so that was the last thing I investigated. Once I took the case off, everything returned to normal. I feel like this is bad enough and widespread enough that there should be a manufacturer’s recall on the pelican cases.

If the iPhone case is made out of plastic it's non-conductive and has nothing to do with antennas and reception, if anything it would insulate between the device and your hands and make reception better.

See if the microphone cutouts in the case are not obstructed with a film, lint or dust.

There are two:

One on the bottom of iPhone, left of lightning connector when looking at bottom of iPhone with screen facing up.

The other on the rear between camera and flash.

I was at the Verizon store today due to this very issue. The Rep told me when that happens to open up the cover for the lightning connection because it cover obstructs the microphone.

Looking at things, I can definitely see how that could be the issue. I said I love the case but probably should have gone with the life proof She quickly offered to exchange it but I'm going to figure something out myself hopefully.

I bought a pelican case for my husbands iPhone 7 In December. Same problem, intermittent cutting out, he can hear but the person receiving his call can't. If he put them on speaker they could hear but what a hassl! Called Apple care, they replaced the phone. Still had problem. Wiped phone and restored. Still had problem. Took it back to AT&T and replaced SIM card. Still had problem. Finally decided to remove the case. 3 weeks, no problem! Taking it back to AT&T today. Wish I would have checked here first. But seemed so illogical that it should be the plastic case! Go figure....

Upgraded wife's phone to the 7 plus and I got her 3 month old 7 which never had any problems. Put it in Pelican marine case and problems started immediately. My son got a new 7 at the same time and placed in a pelican marine case. Same issues. Bad case. I have to hit speaker phone button then I can go back to internal speaker and people can hear me. Also cuts out frequently.

I am having the same problem. I have spent 3 months without a working phone. Every time I talk to someone, this happens. Never occurred to me that it could be the Pelican case. When I took it off, it was fine. I spent a lot of money for the Pelican case and have spent hours upon hours with AT&T and Apple support trying to figure this thing out. You can't tell me that Apple or phone carriers aren't aware of this. So frustrating!
