All folders missing in Finder Documents- only one folder showing called "Microsoft User Data"

Using latest version of software on iMac. Went to Finder for Documents to search for document folders. All folders are gone with just one folder showing named: Microsoft Data User. Tried the preference window to select all options. Switched to other user options. Rebooted. Nothing worked to bring back folders. Under all Files, every document is listed, but not in folders. Have no idea how this happened. Need help to restore folders.
