Cannot add Google to internet accounts

I have also tried adding/deleting gmail accounts. I have no problem adding the accounts my problem is that the mail.app can't seem to grab the gmail passwords that I know are in my keychain so is it that the mail app is not accessing my stored passwords or gmail not connecting with its server?

Is there a better mail app for Mac that does work with google? I have started just opening them with gmail in safari but that isn't very efficient and Safari has its own issues. Second choice on a browser?

I also had this question, did as everyone else did by clearing all Google items in KeyChain, nothing worked. Tried a couple of minutes ago and it just worked instantly so I think its one of those ones you just have to be patient with. Interestingly I also had my Facebook internet account bumped, took about a day to get that back which makes me think this might have been something to do with the MacOS🙂 (currently running macOS Sierra 10.12.4)

Thank you for the headup on AirMail. I love it and wish I'd known about it sooner as it seems to be working really well with no password issues. It sounds like the mail.app is also working so its a win-win. Quick question? Any other browser than safari? Its okay on iPhone/pad but it is so buggy on my mac. Thanks again.

I tried all the different suggestions from this (and other threads) and none of it worked. Until I logged into my iCloud account and unchecked (disabled) syncing of my keychain, cleared Google accounts from Keychain. I was then able to (re)connect and add new gmail accounts.

At least! Works for me. Additional symptoms in my situation: I was able to add google account to OS X after logging in under different user on the same machine. So it was clearly something wrong with cookies and (or) caches stored under OS X account which has a problem with adding google accounts.

So you can perform quick check on applicability of this fix for you: just try to add your google account to another OS X account, if it still impossible then most probably this fix will not work for you.

Same here... installed tons or Sierras with Google Account with no problem, has to be some sort of server problem. With a client now, hope it gets fixed soon!

Same problem. Thunderbird works.

I cannot add the account as IMAP either. Get the cannot verify password error.

FWIW, I don't think you need to do any of that. I just added a Gmail account normally. It seems Google fixed the problem.

Well, you can try tygb's suggestion. However, Google may not have updated all their servers yet. You might want to try again in an hour or so.

Just tried that too... not working either. But lets hope you are right and that it will be probagated soon. Typical this happens today when I am doing two fresh installations for two clients.
