Can I redeem the "Three Free Months of Apple Music" card that comes with the new BeatsX Earphones if I already have an established Family Subscription?

BUT on

it only mentions individual membership cards. On the other hand is then says, "Select a three- or twelve-month subscription towards an Apple Music individual membership. It can be redeemed on Apple Music, iTunes, iBooks, the App Store, or the Mac App Store. Taxes may apply to the purchase of an Apple Music subscription." If it really means it is just another gift card and can be redeemed to an iTunes Store account then presumably it could then be used to pay for any iTunes Store charge, including family membership.
When I bought the BeatsX I indeed already had a Beats 1 family subscription going.
Registering the BeatsX gave me the option to redeem 3 months worth of music. But what it really does is just add $30 to your iTunes Store account which can be used for anything. As the monthly bill for Apple Music came along it just deducted it from the $30 iTunes Store credit that I was given.
So yes, buying BeatsX and registering it gives you 2 months of Apple Music family subscription at $15/month or 3 months of Apple Music single subscription at $10/month, even if you already have an ongoing subscription.
