i can make an album of photos with a name, date, etc, but when i export it to an external hard drive, the album has disappeared although each picture file appears separately any ideas?

You have first to create a folder with the name of the album, And then select the folder as the destination for the exported photos. You can also select the subfolder format "Moment name", then all photos taken at the same place at the same time will automatically be grouped in a folder called like the moment.
