My IPOD Nano won't shut off!!

Okay, I have had this problem occur a couple times. However, what you are going to want to do is reset your ipod by holding the menu and select button until the apple logo appears on the screen (same solution as if you screen was frozen). Then you hold down the play/pause button. This should enable your ipod nano to turn off.

I'm having the same problem with my Nano. I've reset it several times, and restored it twice. Nothing resolved except that the screen will now go black when I press and hold the play/pause button... but it doesn't actually power down. That is to say, when I turn it back on it resumes where it left off and power has drained... hence... the iPod won't turn off.

I too had the same problem with my nano. One day the ENTIRE dial did not work. The battery eventually ran out, I recharged, turned the thing back on, and my nano came back to life EXCEPT I could no longer turn the thing off. I too had to wait for the battery to die in order to turn it off, and was just about to go the service centre.... but

O.K. Have you tried to turn off the ipod by holding down the play/pause button for atleast 10 sec.? If not try it, if you have, well, good luck, =|

My Daughter got this ipod nano 6 days ago and tonight it locked up I cant get the Minu or access any programs to shut it off.
the screen is on with a couple of songs locked up.
