How can I get the USB 3.1 hub ports to work in Windows 10 Bootcamp on the LG Ultrafine 5K monitor?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.3), 2016 15" AMD 450
So I was able to get my USB hub and Apple wired keyboard working by having it plugged in at boot directly to the MacBook Pro. I also miraculously got both 5K displays working as well - somehow overnight with sleeping the machine it work up allowing larger resolutions than 1280 by 720 yay. However, the USB hubs on each display are still not being recognized at all. Here is the event viewer information.
Just the TB3 line from the monitor to the computer. I get a "USB not recognized" error in Windows. I wonder if it's because I have a USB 3.0 hub plugged into the back of the monitor? I'll have to try to remove that and see if it works. More dongles yay! Having two of these monitors further complicates everything also. Windows shows 5 displays connected at tiny resolutions. Perhaps Windows can only handle one?
Ok so this is a bigger problem. I tried without the hub - no luck. Then I tried plugging in my Apple wired keyboard into a USB to USB-C dongle and plugging that directly into the MacBook Pro. That makes a recognized sound, and then repeats the disconnected sound until I actually disconnect it. Apple wired keyboard not working?! Hard to believe. Then I tried my Logitech wireless mouse dongle, that works. USB 2.0 flash drive works. Something seriously wrong with USB drivers. Cleaned and reinstalled. Same issues. Thoughts?
Can you look in the Windows Event Viewer and check for any events related to USB Hubs? The simplest method is to bring up Device Manager, right-click on the USB Hub -> Properties -> Events. You will have to look at all USB entries, unless you can find the corresponding USB root hub information where the device connects.
You do have both the 3.0 and 3.1 xHCI installed. Right-click on each 'Unknown' entry, uninstall/delete and scan for hardware changes. Check if new drivers are installed and/or it prompts you for a driver.
The Vendor ID being 0 bothers me a bit.

Do you have a USB-C/TB and/or USB connection between your Mac and monitor?
Cascading hubs can be an issue. Can the USB3.0 Hub be directly connected to the Mac? Does the current configuration work correctly on the OS X side?
It does wrk correctly on the OS X side. I will try without the hub tonight and post back.
FYI I had completely unplugged the LG Ultrafine display during this testing.
Yeah I tried that already. I didn't reboot or anything though. It just goes back to the same thing. If I had a device ID I could at least search for a different driver.
You can get the Device ID/VID/PID from the OS X side in System Report.
If you need the Camera, you will need the 3.1 tree. Most Keyboards/Mice should be USB2.x.
Any thoughts as to how to get these drivers? I find it hard to believe I am the only one experiencing this issue.
Does LG's website have drivers for the these devices?
