Belkin Wireless G Router and Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo woes

I'm hoping someone can offer some help or suggestion. I have read that the new C2D Macbook Pro doesn't with with the SMC 2804, which to my luck is what I had. So I went and bought the Belkin F5D7230-4 with what I believe is the latest firmware upgrade, which people have said it works. I am able to connect to it but ONLY with no security/password. I've tried WEP and WPA2 and neither works. So far, my only option is to use it with no security which I'm willing to do for the short term but it doesn't seem like a great idea for the long term.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,

Sorry for butting in, but have you tried alternate
channels, or putting a $ symbol in front of your key?
It works for some people, I think for WPA (there's
been so many articles I forgot which).

You know what? I tried both these methods before and it didn't help. BUT I just tried it again just to quadruple check, and I don't believe it, it works now with a WEP password!!!

I changed the channel and added a $ before my password on the MBP. Don't know which helped, though I think it's the $ symbol.

Thanks Ethanee and iVMichael!
