How do I recover the photos that stay blurry and with exclamation icon?

It has been a while since I wanted to look at my older pictures in my iphone photo library but each time I open one picture it stays blurry and with an exclamation point in the corner. I dont know what to do, I would appreciate if someone that knows about this could tell me how to solve it. Thanks!
