diagnostics on a remote computer?

We have a mid-2012 Mac Pro at a remote location. The systems is used for video production but has been crashing when we run the encoding software. We have reinstalled the encoding software but it is still crashing.

Is it possible to run hardware diagnostics on the Mac Pro without physically being at the system? (i.e. over a remote connection).

Apple's own hardware diagnostic tools require booting in to a special mode to run them which would mean no you cannot run them remotely, however there are various third-party tools that might do what you want. I cannot personally comment on whether they are any good.
