Fan noisy on 2010 iMac

My 2010 iMac (Lion OS) was unable to back up on Time Machine and apps were quitting unexpectedly. I took it to a local repair store last week. They disassembled the hard drive and checked the software. They determined it was a corrupted file and also repaired disk permissions. They suggested upgrading to Sierra OS. I agreed and now all the apps are running well. But now the fan is very loud. It's never done that before. The repair shop said my computer was very dusty and they blew out a lot of dust. They recommend I download Derman's fan control software to control the fan speeds.

Does anyone have thoughts as to why the fan is now so loud? And does anyone have experience with Derman's software?

I actually downloaded the Derman fan control software, because I figured if I have any problems, I could take it back to the repair shop.

Currently my CPU is running 117 deg. F and the fan speeds are 1600/5203/1977 rpm. Is that okay? And it's pretty loud.

What I'm not sure is if I can use the software to manipulate the fan speeds.

I have been shutting down my computer to keep it cool.

I just turned it on again 5 minutes ago, the temp is 44 deg celsius, fans are now running cpu 1384/hd 2960/dvd 1639

It's quiet, not loud, but in a little while, it will be loud again.

It sounds more like, they

1. did not use a compatible HDD (if the HDD was replaced)

2. did not reconnect or damaged one of the other temperature sensors

Like BDAqua, I use crystalidea Macs Fan Control which has both Sensor-Based and Continuous speed features.

In any case (changed, removed or damage) if the sensor is not correctly reporting back to the SMC, then you will need to use the Continuous Fan Speed feature and not the Sensor-Based feature of the FanControl App.
