Edits not synced fully from iCloud to Mac

I have recently set up iCloud for photos. I have edited a number of photos on my iPhone, such as added filters, cropped, etc. The sync of photos, albums etc seem to work great when I open Photos on Mac OS (El Capitan), and I can SEE that the photos are edited, but when I click "Edit" in Photos, none of the changes can be see there. It's as if the editing options are untouched.

For example, I added the filter Fade to a photo on iPhone. When I open the photo in Photos on Mac OS, I can see that the filter has been applied, but when I click "Edit" and select Filters, it says "None", while on the iPhone it says "Fade".

Nothing is spinning or syncing so the download seems to be complete.

Why can't I see the editing options?

Do you mean iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream?

My Photo Stream will transfer the photos as taken by the camera, without adjustments. IcLoud Photo Library should sync all adjustments and edits.

I tried it just now, I added a filter to a photo in iPhone, and almost immediately I could see that the photo was updated in Photos on Mac. But when I click Edit and Filters it still says "None"...

That is weird. What happens, when you try to add adjustments, not filters? Straighten the photo, change the colors, crop it? Do these adjustments transfer?

The filters could have been added by the camera, the cropping in Photos.

All adjustments transfer in the sense that I see the latest version of the photo on the Mac. However the options under Edit always look like they are untouched. So it's like I'm seeing a copy of the last version of the photo rather than the original + adjustments.

I tried making edits the other way now, e.g. edit on the Mac and then checking the edits on the iPhone. It syncs perfectly. But not the other way around.

This clearly seems to be some bug or glitch. I've tried to restart the computer.

Would it help to check the option "Download originals to this Mac"? Maybe it's something about the thumbnails/optimize storage thing that isn's syncing perfectly...

If you have space on your Mac to store all originals then that is a good idea since it makes precessing faster with no internet required and lets you do a good local backup - I doubt that it will resolve this although since it is a weird problem who knows

Try that. I never used "Optimize Storage" but always "Download originals". Do you have enaough local storage to allow that? I prefer "Download originals". Otherwise the photos are not included in my Time Machine backup.
