Why is my ipad pro freezing?

Ever since I got my ipad pro 9.7 inch, I've been experiencing some scroll freezes, in safari and many other apps, as well as swiping freezes. Though the freezing will only occur for like 2 seconds, but it actually freezes and and continues normally in these 2 sec, like gets interrupted in this duration. I've tried to restore my ipad, and also restart it but all in vain.

I have exactly the same issue. iPAD Pro 12.9, iOS 10.3.2. Core apps such as Settings freeze. Task switcher is unable to close it. Restoring to factory default doesn't help. I only run 1 game and never run more than 1 app. I always close app before running Settings. Storage used 15.35 GB. Storage space available 108.82 GB. Background app refresh is disabled.

This is short of saying iPAD Pro died with Steve Jobs.

I have reset home/sleep button many times. It helps for a short time then my problem persists. Even a complete factory reset help to no avail. The most frustrating thing is while I type on the key pad. I can type very fast then in an instant I'm typing in slow motion or at a complete stop. When I reset home/sleep it alieves the problem for the short time. My iPad will be 2 years come November. A plus is I can pair it with my Mac in times of emergency! Any thoughts? thinking back, this problem was starting before I updated iOS 10.3.2. I noticed freezing screen while using apps like Pinterest. Thanks Teresa

Do you have scads and scads of apps running in the background in the iOS App Switcher?

Having a large quantity of apps running in the background can eat up both RAM and CPU proceszes.

It's better NOT leaving a ton of apps in the App Switcher.

Also, have you tried turning off Background App Refresh in the Settings App?

Doing this keeps apps that rely on an Internet connection from constantly updating and refreshing in the background when not in use.

Another thing you can adjust is if you are getting email automatically or not.

You can set the iOS Mail to fetch email manually each time you launch the iOS Mail app instead of automatically, OR increase the interval time that the Mail app fetches email.

This is found in the Settings app under Mail, Contacts, Reminders settings panel.

I have my Mail App/s set to fetch manually only when I launch my Mail app.

Keeps the iPad from always reaching out to a mail server all day long,

BTW,

You're welcome!

I'm also having this issue with my 2017 iPad Pro 12" 120hz. He's right, it's super annoying, especially for gaming. Regardless, it's ruining the experience and I can;t find a solution. I have tried most of what has been recommended along with turning off just about every background processing function. I only left a couple native iOS things running like Find My iPhone. also turned on reduced motion, bluetooth, and anything else I could think of that might rob CPU or graphics power. No difference at all. Someone please help. I guess the next step is to do a complete restore, but I would love to hear that it actually worked for someone else before doing it. I am the 75th person on this thread who "also has this question". Wish us all luck.

Hi solar Expert, I've had the same problem for many months. It was getting worse and worse So I backed up my iPad on my Mac. Then I restored to factory. I found that it still didn't solve my problems completely. I recovered the back up from the Mac. After wrestling with this problem, I did turn off all background app refresh. It did help a bit of the freezing but I still had the problem. After more research, someone had suggested turning off all things in Accessability (under general afew lines down.) This it has greatly improved the problem of freezing. Typing was getting so bad. I type fast it would just stop. Very frustrating causing many misspelled words. Now the freezing has almost completely stopped. I still once in awhile need to press home button and swipe out all running apps. Then go back into what I was doing. It has helped my iPad Pro. I hope it will help yours.
