Why is my ipad pro freezing?

I'm also having this issue with my 2017 iPad Pro 12" 120hz. He's right, it's super annoying, especially for gaming. Regardless, it's ruining the experience and I can;t find a solution. I have tried most of what has been recommended along with turning off just about every background processing function. I only left a couple native iOS things running like Find My iPhone. also turned on reduced motion, bluetooth, and anything else I could think of that might rob CPU or graphics power. No difference at all. Someone please help. I guess the next step is to do a complete restore, but I would love to hear that it actually worked for someone else before doing it. I am the 75th person on this thread who "also has this question". Wish us all luck.

Hi solar Expert, I've had the same problem for many months. It was getting worse and worse So I backed up my iPad on my Mac. Then I restored to factory. I found that it still didn't solve my problems completely. I recovered the back up from the Mac. After wrestling with this problem, I did turn off all background app refresh. It did help a bit of the freezing but I still had the problem. After more research, someone had suggested turning off all things in Accessability (under general afew lines down.) This it has greatly improved the problem of freezing. Typing was getting so bad. I type fast it would just stop. Very frustrating causing many misspelled words. Now the freezing has almost completely stopped. I still once in awhile need to press home button and swipe out all running apps. Then go back into what I was doing. It has helped my iPad Pro. I hope it will help yours.

Mine did this a few times a day since new. It stopped a week or so ago. I did nothing. Just stopped. Works fine now. Recon Apple slyly fixed it and said nothing. Interested in if others see same thing

I am loosing the will to live with mine, can go days with no problem and then lagging so bad I can barely do anything on it. Followed and tried the suggestions but still continues and today the worst ever.

This is now 2 months old, my old iPad gave me no issues at all. I’m not buying into having to do resets, restricting the use of the facilities on the machine just to get it to work. its under guarantee and Apple can have it back .........

FWIW: My 12” iPad is also starting to slow down intermittently and today it started to randomly restart. I had the same problem with my iphone6 and apple told me I could try fixing the problem by buying a new battery but it was more likely that I needed a newer phone. This makes me wonder if the now well-known battery problem with the iPhone 6 is repeating on the 12” iPad. (And p.s., I bought an iPhone 8plus on Saturday 1/19/18 and I’m already having problems with that one slowing during typing.) my iPad is older than yours but still less than a year old.

I’ve since contated Apple, they are unable to find any problems, they ran a diagnostics on it and have advised I return it.

One thing I would be interested to know - how many with this problem have a screen cover on theirs? And how many use the Apple pencil?

In preparation to return I have removed my screen and taken it out of the case and not seeming to have the problems now, will continue to use it and see, it may be totally coincidental.

Scrolling through this thread I see you have the same model and same problem. I purchased mine in US and am living in Australi and am told to take it back to the retailer! Wondering if you have resolved the problem since your post.

Every suggestion from these posts I have tried. It seems to satisfy me for a few days...then it’s back to freezing while I’m using my keypad. I’m frustrated mostly...but what to do! Still loving my iPad Pro Even with its problems.

Try this reset ..

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Keep in mind that Reset All Settings means just that. While you will not lose your data, all settings from Safari to Wi-Fi will be gone. I would make a backup first.
