Pop-up Message: No Internet (but there is!)

All of a sudden, whenever I open my MacBookAir from being asleep, I get a pop-up message that says, "No Internet" (screenshot attached). However, I DO have internet. When I click on the OK button, the message goes away and all is fine until the next time my computer goes asleep.

If I shut down the machine and restart it, this message does not appear. Or, if my browser is closed, and I open it, the message does not appear. Any ideas?

More.

I would consider if you need both of these.

Flash Player: 21.0.0.242 - SDK 10.6 (2016-05-21) Outdated!Update

googletalkbrowserplugin: 5.41.3.0 - SDK 10.8 (2015-12-11) [Support]

When Google brought out Google Talk they used Flash in a Browser to connect (allow access to the camera and Mic) for Video chats.

Later they brought out their "own" version (the google plugin)

For a while they clashed (it has been a while since I have seen anything on this in the forums).

However both your seem dated.

The Flash one has been updated and the Google one just looks old.

The other odd thing is the Flash one seems to be listed twice and one is not marked and Outdated.

Try uninstalling the above using the Developer's uninstall instructions. See if that helps.

Most posters recommend not using cleaning programs. They can destroy normal computer operations.

CleanMyMac 2 uninstall

CleanMyMac3 Uninstall

Thats an interesting message...

If you're using Chrome, I would actually contact Google Support and see if there isn't some kind of extension causing it. To me, it doesn't actually look like a legitimate OS X message at all. Typically you're not going to get a pop up if there isn't an internet source, rather a "Check your Internet Connection" when browsing.

Also, I would check out https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/ and run a scan. You might have some kind of malware maybe?

Feb 26, 2017 2:46 PM in response to RiderBob

FWIW, the first thing you should do is uninstall CleanMyMac2 following their instructions. It is considered bad news by multiple contributors and is known to cause problems. It is unnecessary, Macs have their own maintenance routines.

You use IPVanish which lends credence to what Eric mentioned. It may be a dialog IPVanish is generating if it doesn't connect fast enough from sleep.

You should check to make sure all your software is up to date.
