My mailbox is full and I cannot receive any more messages without deleting some but when I try to delete messages, I get this message:

What do I do to fix this?

Hi,

Go to Mail.app > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox behaviours, and uncheck "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox".

Have you tried deleting them on the e-mail provider's website?

Use the Web interface to visit your mail account instead of the Mail app, and purge the folders there.
