Macbook Air A1466 not powering on.

Hi there,

This is on behalf of my friend with an A1466 Macbook Air (Mid 2012 according to serial number) C0****RVC.

The computer had been giving her notifications saying the startup disc is almost full which she ignored. It has now died completely. She tried a reset by holding down command+control+option or something from memory and it did start back up but died again.

Prior to this it also used to occasionally start up and then just power down.

Green and then orange light shows up on charger, and gooes to green after to signal full charge. If I connect my external hard drive to it and press the power button my external turns on and i can feel and hear it going. No sound on start up though and no caps lock button light working.

I have connected via HDMI to the TV with no change or anything coming up on the TV so it cant just be the screen.

Have unplugged battery and tried startup from power cord.

Have tried startup from power cord with SSD taken out and battery unplugged.

I am thinking Logic board perhaps?

Hello,

No startup chime (and no caps lock light) suggests it's a hardware issue - so I think the logic board is a reasonable thing to investigate. Apple can look at it and give you a free evaluation to confirm.
