video not streaming via airplay only sound

When I connect my ipad2 or iPhone 6s to AirPlay, there is only sound and no playback. I've tried everything, even reset settings. I can play via YouTube but could it because I'm streaming from safari/google chrome? Also to add a message on the bottom left screen 'direct.googlevideo playback?' Or something like that.
