Are you saying it is missing from your device? If so, and you are using iTunes, just make sure it is selected in the sync process. That should restore it to your device. If you are talking about restoring your phone from a backup, you cannot restore just particular apps. A restore from backup is either all or none.
i want to restore ONLY the whatsapp app and data from itunes that i backed up earlier. the reason i wanted to do this is i wanted to keep the new iphone set up clean and neat and free from garbage (my old iphone has garbage).
so this is my plan:
1. set p new iphone 7 clean
2. restore selective apps from restore
this in my view, is the best way and offers lots of freedom.
i tried doing the full restore and i had this message:
"iTunes could not restore the iPhone "iPhone 6 Plus" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored".
what is happening?
I did the backup of iphone6 plus again to iTunes. and then i set up my new iphone7 plus to restore from the old backup i just did. and it gave me this error.
what should i do?

As I indicated earlier, this is not possible. You cannot do a selective restore.

It is possible the backup is of a newer version of iOS than the iPhone 7 has installed, if you just got the iPhone 7. You may have to update the iPhone 7 and make sure it has the same or newer iOS than the backup. If not, then it is possible the backup is corrupt.
i spent nearly half a day doing this unproductive thing. in the end, i did a hard reset and then forced it to restore from iphone6 plus. succes. "restore in progress"
