reduce the space between a header and the body text in pages 5.6.1

How can I reduce the space between a header and the body text in pages 5.6.1?

This is total Bulls#t! I am in a blank page and have the same problem.

Also, I've seen varieties of this question in other threads and the advice is totally WRONG.

  1. There is no Layout Margins in the Inspector.
  2. I have the Document Margins set at 0 and it does nothing.
  3. I have Default Spacing at 0 and it does nothing.

What is the real answer for Pages 5.6?! Not Pages 2009 or any other version.

For Pages v5.6.2 (or v6+)... from the View menu, select Show Layout. Next, click on Document in the Toolbar, and then only decrease the Document top margin by one downward click to 0.75 in. You will observe that the gap between body text and the top header is now closed. No changes to spacing, or other margins is necessary when using the default Blank template.

The header/footer, and document body objects are not selectable, and this prohibits altering them directly.

It didn't work. Note the 10 centimeter gap between the heading and the body.

Just like I said in the initial post:

  • I have the Document Margins set at 0 and it does nothing.
  • I have Default Spacing at 0 and it does nothing.
  • By setting the Document Margins at 0.75 and absolutely nothing happened.

    What now?

I started with a blank template, and made one simple correction to the top document margin. Nothing else. I am not looking over your shoulder, so have no idea what other settings you may have changed. Clearly, I did not set the top document margin to 0.

    Default blank template settings:

After one downward click on the Top Document Margin:

You are making this too difficult for yourself. The document body spacing is set from the Format Text panel : Spacing.
