I've read through most posts to try to find the answer to this question, but can't figure it out. Can I use my MagSafe Airline cable to power (not charge) my MBP in my car? I know it says "airline" but I can't help to wonder if that is the only place it works, why does it come with an auto adapter???
I'm about to buy a macbook pro and the dc charger issue is important for me. In reading through this discussion i'm not finding an explanation as to WHY this magsafe adaptor will not work with a cigarrette lighter plug. Is it simply the voltage or do the contacts not match?
If it is the voltage would it work with a 24V DC power supply??
Can't tell you why. Can tell you that the manual that comes with the Magsafe airline adapter tells you not to use it with cars. I suspect that a) your computer will come to harm and b) Apple will not repair under warrantee!
