Watch Mail Spinning Wheel

Recently I have noticed when I open mail on my watch, the e-mails are there but at the bottom there is a spinning wheel like it is loading something. The concern is that this spinning wheel never goes away. That wasn't the case before just in the past few weeks. I restarted the iPhone and Watch, did a hard restart, and even unpaired and repaired the Watch with no change. This doesn't seem normal. Any thoughts?
