Iphone 7 click hold issue

In IPhone 6, you could click then hold on things like pictures and icons on Safari then get a menu of options to do certain things like save or delete.

On iPhone 7, this functionality was annoyingly replaced with a preview or some huge fly out that obstructs what you intended to do. For example, Safari likes putting icons on the landing page for sites I visit most. This is nice for some things but I don't always want an icon on the starting page. I used to be able to click and hold and get an option to remove. Now, Safari busts out a preview of the site and because it fills the screen I have no choice but to be sent there if I let go. This isn't a Safari only issue. The iPhone folks decided to get fancy with apps too. Holding your click on an app will not bring a shaky icon with a delete X. You have to be soft and gently touch the app icon. It's truly annoying because I'm heavy handed and it's difficult to gently touch. Anyway, how the heck can I get Safari to remove the shortcuts it thinks I want?

Hi Eric,

I understand that you are seeing options that you weren't expecting when trying to remove Safari favorites and app icons. I'm happy to provide some help with this issue.

What you are describing is 3D Touch, which allows you to quickly perform some common actions on items that allow it. You can turn off 3D Touch entirely, or adjust the sensitivity under Settings > General > Accessibility > 3D Touch:

Change 3D Touch sensitivity on your iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus - Apple Support
