Pages locks up editing NAS Based File

We recently switched from a very slow NetGear Ready NAS NV+ to a QNAP NAS. The Qnap has dual Ethernet ports and has been way faster. Recently however, my mac mini and MacBook Air have started acting up when using Pages.

When I open a pages file on the NAS drive, it opens fine and as soon as I make an edit, a temp folder is built on the NAS drive based on the documents name, the color wheel appears and it just spins. Pages won't do anything.

The Mac can open other software and Pages will sit in the background and spin all day.

Numbers opens the files on the NAS but has difficulty saving them sometimes.

The only other change was the network. I had it set to hidden and someone war hogged it, so I used a much stronger password and reset the Airports. Admittedly it hasn't been the same since either. Three Airport Extreme base stations with Frontier Fios on Dual NAT. Airport Utility says everything is working properly but when the computers go to sleep they now lose the wifi connection and lose the server connections.

Windows 10 PC running Quickbooks on same network works fine. Quickbook files on same NAS drive.

Only software on PC is Quickbooks.

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12.1), Works pretty good, gettin old
